The overarching focus of this display case is on extraterrestrial life and Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Specific sub-topics explored include claims of life on the moon, Mars, U.F.O. sightings, and the Hollow Earth Theory.
Pervial Lowell’s Mars and Its Canals and Mars as the Abode of Life assert the existence of plant life and civilization on Mars. This assertion was based upon the work of Giovanni Shaperelli, who observed a system of straight lines across the surface of Mars and called them “canali.” Lowell maintains that these observations were of canals that served as irrigation systems and were indicative of plant life and civilization on Mars.
The Hollow Earth and Secret of the Ages both detail the Hollow Earth Theory, which claims that the Earth is a hollow sphere. Involved in this theory is the concept of U.F.O.s originating from inside of this hollow Earth.
Other items included in this case detail U.F.O. sightings and encounters.

Le Poer Trench, Brinsley. Secret of the ages.
These photographs of the North Pole are presented as evidence that there are holes in the North and South Pole, supporting the Hollow Earth Theory.
Steckling, Fred. We Discovered Alien Bases On The Moon.
Steckling uses the photographs presented here as potential evidence of vegetation and animal life on the moon.

Sifakis, Carl. Official guide to UFO sightings.
The photo on the left purports to capture a strange light phenomenon that occurred during a “UFO Craze” in Columbus, Ohio, in 1973.

Musgrave, John Brent. UFO occupants and critters : the patterns in Canada.
On the left (page 25), a diagram of entities making a pit stop is featured, below which various locations of such pit stops in Canada are listed. On the opposing page (page 26) we see a depiction of a UFO with what the author denotes as “men” (in quotations) from Boainai, Papua New Guinea.
Lowell, Percival. Mars as the Abode of Life.
This page shows a map of Martian canals, which are argued to be an indicator of civilization and intelligent life on Mars. This is the third of Percival Lowell’s three books discussing his ideas about Mars, its appearance, and its history of life.

Lowell, Percival. Mars and its canals.
These pages show a map of Martian canals that are argued to be home to vegetation and, by extension, possibly other forms of life. This is the second of Percival Lowell’s three books discussing his ideas about Mars, its appearance, and its history of life.

Naud, Yves. U.F.O.s and extra-terrestrials in history, Vol. 3 & 4.

This image is from the third volume. It includes three extreme close-ups of photos that were taken by Ed Keffels and Joao Martins in Rio de Janeiro, showing one or more UFOs from different angles.

This image is from the fourth volume and is captioned:
“Here we see a group of astronomers at a meeting at Greenwich (U.K.) in 1953, studying the sky. One of them is holding a chart illustrating the different types of flying saucer which have been observed.”

This is the decorated cover shared by all the books in this four-volume set.

Bernard, R. W. The Hollow Earth.
These pages show an image of the earth with its “north polar opening” visible, and a diagram detailing the Hollow Earth Theory. Both were taken from Marshall B. Gardner’s 1920 work, A Journey to the Earth’s Interior –or– Have the Poles Really Been Discovered (Aurora, Eugene Smith Company).
