Prepared by Silver Buckle Press, we present an informal exhibit of letterforms and figures found in signs throughout Memorial Library, University of Wisconsin–Madison. Each image represents a letter from the alphabet, followed by a bonus set of numbers (one through ten). The signs themselves represent a variety of styles—formal and temporary; hand lettered and machine made—that reflect the purpose and history of signage in our well-loved and heavily used research library.

Photographs were taken circa 2009. Several signs are no longer extant. Memorial Library celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2003.
